Baume & Mercier is enriching its Riviera magnum sports watch collection with two substantial new models: a limited-edition all black chronograph with flyback function and transparent dial; and an athletic three-pointer and date display model, both in a new XXL size measuring 45 mm in diameter (compared with 43 mm for previous versions).

In addition to their more generous size, these two new launches enrich the Riviera magnum line with several advanced design features: a case redesigned with one side shaped like a car radiator grille; new hollowed hands; a larger crown; and a new rubber strap with pure lines, secured by an adjustable triple folding clasp.

Nonetheless, the new Riviera magnum XXL watches retain the sporting, sophisticated attributes of the legendary Riviera line: the twelve-sided bezel characterizing the Riviera line since 1973, solidly secured to the case by four black PVD-coated screws; guaranteed water resistance to 200 meters thanks to the case construction with its screw-down back and crown; as well as scratch-resistant glareproofed sapphire crystals to ensure optimal sturdiness and readability. Heir to the rich watchmaking heritage of Baume & Mercier, this collection pays tribute to the traditional expertise and the spirit of innovation of which William Baume remains the symbolic guardian.
The new William Baume collection is composed exclusively of models crafted in keeping with the finest traditions of Haute Horlogerie, produced in limited, numbered series and powered by complicated movements specially manufactured for Baume & Mercier.

The four new models in the collection renew ties with the brand’s origins by revisiting the complications inseparably entwined with its historical patrimony. Each of these models has its own history and most of them are inspired by iconic historical Baume & Mercier watches. Initially composed of three models last year, the William Baume collection now comprises four watches in all, including a brand-new Single Push-Piece Chronograph.


A complication that is both useful and aesthetically pleasing, the single push-piece chronograph serves to start, stop and reset short times by pressing a single pusher. It thereby also streamlines the aesthetic of the case side by integrating the crown and two pushers into a single element, compared with three separate elements on conventional chronographs.

William Baume Flying Tourbillon. The gravity-defying tourbillon is one of the most prestigious horological complications and one of the trickiest to create. The rotation of its carriage compensates for the effects of gravity and thereby serves to increase the precision of the watch. In 1892, the “Frères Baume” company set an absolute precision record at the chronometry competition held in Kew Observatory in England with a tourbillon chronometer, acclaimed as the most accurate watch of its time. Today, Baume & Mercier revisits this specialty through its most aesthetically pleasing and most technologically accomplished interpretation, the flying tourbillon. Contrary to a classic tourbillon, which is held by two upper and lower bridges, the flying tourbillon is secured exclusively by its arbor, thus affording free views of its spectacular spinning motion. Another distinctive feature of this new model in the William Baume collection lies in the unusual and extremely elegant 9 o’clock position of its tourbillon escapement. The dial adorned with a “Vieux Panier” decorative decor is also enlivened by a small seconds display at 6 o’clock.

Today the reference time is provided by atomic clocks the rate deviation of which is around one second in three million years. In Switzerland, rating certificates are delivered by COSC the official chronometer inspection body, even though its requirements are not as strict as in the former timing trials.

Stolen 'gold Maurice Lacroix' in Caister

Jewellery stolen in Caister

BURGLARS stole hundreds of pounds worth of jewellery and electrical equipment from a Caister home.

The offenders broke in through the back door and stole items including a £1,300 Samsung television, £500 worth of Samsung surround sound equipment, a Wii and controllers worth around £200 and a Packard Bell laptop and case worth around £300.

The jewellery stolen included a gold bangle with five diamonds inset worth around £3,000, a gold Maurice Lacroix watch with diamonds around the face worth around £800 and a yellow and gold necklace worth around £300.

The incident took place some time between 9am and 8pm on July 23 at an address in Ormesby Road.

Anyone with information relating to the incident should phone either DC Matthew Cornwall at Great Yarmouth CID on 0845 4564567 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

This is my first Tag and I've owned the watch for about 5 months now. It's a wonderful timepiece and suits my style since I'm relatively young and don't need a dressy watch. I do have a few complaints about the watch but they are trivial to many people. First, the second hand is sometimes obstructed from view by the minute and/or hour hands. This is bothersome when I'm checking pulse and respirations. Second, I wish that I had an option for the blue face like you see on the Aquaracer. And lastly, this isn't an automatic watch.

I received a Tag Heuer Carerra 2 1/2 years ago as a Father's Day gift. Over the last 8-12 months each of the crowns (there are 3) fell off. The last one missing now renders the watch unusable. Took it to Tourneau for repair who say they send it to Tag for service. The estimate is $800!!! The watch was $2500. I have been unable to contact Tag Heuer to discuss this with them. No email provided and 800 number leads to a circular phone tree. The prompt for customer care just rings with no answer. This is terrible customer service and terrible product care. Be warned if you're cconsidering a Tag Heuer product.

This was my first Tag Heuer. It's one of the most beautiful watches I own... my other two watches are a Movado Luno and a Kenneth Cole dress watch. Everything works as its supposed to, with incredibly accurate time keeping. If you're worried about how genuine this product it, like I was, do not fret. It's Grade A 100% authentic. The boxes themselves are beautiful.

RE : Corum Ti Bridge Watch: A Standout From Baselworld 2009

Amidst a veritable sea of fine timepieces, the Corum Ti Bridge watch stood out as one of the coolest novelties at the Baselworld 2009 exhibition. A sort of 21st century variation upon Corum's legendary Golden Bridge theme, the Ti Bridge radiates all the watchmaking brilliance of that creation, while giving us a new statement of modern design that is better suited for daily wear.

What exactly do I mean by that? Well, while the Corum Golden Bridge watch in its various guises is extraordinarily lovely, it also has a delicate and formal appearance-rather like a lovely museum exhibit. While absolutely superb for formal wear or special occasions, pulling the Golden Bridge off as an everyday watch might be quite the challenge for all but the dandiest dressers. Corum's new Ti Bridge watch, on the other hand, showcases a fantastic new titanium case that is super stylish, beautifully finished and most importantly-versatile. It looks great on the wrist regardless of attire, and draws attention right where it belongs: the amazing C0 007 handwound movement!

Speaking of the Ti Bridge movement, it's worth making just a couple of brief comments on its origins and visual presence. While Corum has clearly drawn inspiration from the legendary baton caliber in its Golden Bridge (a brainchild of famed watchmaker Vincent Calabrese) the new caliber presents its own unique constructive and technical features. It reminds me of the skeleton within a grand skyscraper with its quartet of finely beveled V-shaped supplementary bridges, none of which obstruct the fascinating straight-line layout of the gear train. Despite the deceptive simplicity and minimalistic beauty of this mechanical gem, Corum managed to achieve an impressive power reserve of 72 hours.
